Types of custom ear plugs
- Musician ear plugs. Special filters lower the volume evenly, so music sounds the same, just quieter. Made for musicians, DJs, sound techs and concert goers. More in our guide for musicians.
- Industrial and trades ear plugs. Steady protection for long shifts around machinery and power tools, with a seal that stays put all day.

How we make them
Your audiologist checks your ears, then takes an impression of each ear canal with a soft silicone material. It takes about five minutes and feels like mild pressure. The impressions go to a lab that makes your ear plugs to the exact shape of your ears, which typically takes one to two weeks. When they are ready, you come back and we check the fit.

Foam plugs are the same shape for everyone. They fall out, need rolling and squeezing, and get uncomfortable after an hour or two.
